Spodoptera litura - Groundnut and Castor Ecosystem
The efficacy of different types of pheromone traps
and their modification was evaluated for their ability to trap the male moths
of S. litura in groundnut and castor ecosystems in Saurashtra area
of Gujarat, India during 2002-2003.
There was no significant difference in the
performance of funnel traps, and the trap with funnel and flap. The trap
without funnel and flap was efficient in capturing the moths. In these traps
also when the gap between the source of lure and mouth of the sleeve was
reduced from 4 cm (normal) to 2 and 3 cm, the trapping efficiency significantly
increased to 29.6 males/trap/three days in groundnut and 100.3 males/trap/three
days in castor ecosystem compared to any other type of trap (Nandagopal and
Rathod, 2007).
